Activity Overview
This Clinical Sessions package is intended for board-certified pharmacists in need of recertification credit and is designed based on the content outline developed by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS). Using a case-based approach, the activities provide high-level, interactive discussions on contemporary and emerging issues in geriatric pharmacy.
The Geriatric Pharmacy Clinical Sessions Recertification Package consists of 4 activities (see table below) and provides up to 5.5 contact hours of continuing pharmacy education and/or recertification credit.
These activities are part of the ASHP and ACCP professional development program for BCGP recertification approved by BPS. For pharmacists who maintain more than one certification, three of the activities are approved for multiple specialties (see table below).
Accreditation

The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education with Commendation.

The American College of Clinical Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.
Target Audience
These recertification activities are intended for board-certified pharmacists seeking to update their knowledge and skills in:
- Advancements in the pharmacologic management of urinary incontinence
- The current landscape of anti-amyloid medications for Alzheimer’s disease and mild cognitive impairment with an overall goal to close gaps in current practice related to the use of these medications
- Addressing substance use disorder (SUD) in their practice and expand their knowledge of evidence-based practice specifically in the areas of alcohol use disorder (AUD) and opioid use disorder (OUD)
- The use and selection of specific medication classes and agents in older adults and the BRACE tool to aid in selection of anti-hypertensives
Recertification Credit*
Board certified pharmacists are eligible to receive up to 5.5 contact hours of recertification credit for completing this course. To earn recertification credit, learners must review the course content and successfully complete the online assessments by the deadline.
ASHP provides an opportunity for remediation. Participants who are unsuccessful with the first assessment attempt may take a second assessment. The second assessment is included at no additional cost.

ASHP is approved by BPS as a provider for the recertification of BCGP.
