Activity Overview
The purpose of this activity is to offer participants recertification credits for the Board of Pharmacy Specialty (BPS) certification for compounded sterile preparations practitioners (BCSCP) by providing a review of pertinent topics.
This selected reading module focuses challenges of parenteral nutrition compounding, compatibility and stability of parenteral nutrition admixtures, the factors that contribute to hazardous drug exposure for clinical and non-clinical healthcare workers, major etiologies of infusion-related phlebitis, along with potential interventions to prevent and manage phlebitis, and the effect of workflow change on sterile compounding waste management.
This activity is approved for 3.0 contact hours of continuing pharmacy education credit. Successful completion of the learning module will provide 3.0 contact hours of continuing pharmacy education credit.
This activity is part of the ASHP professional development program for BCSCP recertification approved by the BPS.
Accreditation

The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education with Commendation.
Target Audience
This activity is intended for Board Certified Compounded Sterile Preparations Pharmacy Specialists in need of recertification credit.
Recertification Credit*
Board certified pharmacists are eligible to receive up to 3 contact hours of recertification credit for completing this course. To earn recertification credit, learners must review the course content and successfully complete the online assessments by the deadline. Only completed assessments will be eligible for credit; no partial or incomplete assessments will be processed. You are allowed only one attempt to successfully complete this assessment.
ASHP provides an opportunity for remediation. Participants who are unsuccessful with the first assessment attempt may take a second assessment. The second assessment is included at no additional cost.
This course is not intended for those preparing to take the BPS Compounded Sterile Preparations Pharmacy Specialty Examination for Certification.

ASHP is approved by BPS as a provider for the recertification of BCSCP.
