Target Audience
This activity is intended for pharmacists?interested in continuous glucose monitoring services for patients with diabetes.
Overview
The Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) Microcredential curriculum provides learners with a description of CGM devices currently available, selecting the most appropriate CGM device based on patient-specific factors, interpreting CGM data and utilizing them to guide diabetes treatment decisions, and strategies for overcoming barriers to CGM implementation.
Continuous Glucose Monitoring Microcredential Requirement
Once a learner has completed the educational curriculum, they will have the opportunity to complete an online comprehensive exam. Once the learner passes the exam (minimum 80% passing rate; unlimited attempts permitted), they will earn the Continuous Glucose Monitoring Microcredential.
Learning Objectives
At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Discuss clinical guidelines and evidence supporting use of CGM.
- Compare and contrast continuous glucose monitoring devices.
- Design a treatment regimen based on continuous glucose monitoring data.
- Use the DATAA tool to engage in a discussion with a person with diabetes about their glucose data.
- Describe the process for obtaining third party coverage for continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) for people with diabetes.
- Explain the current procedural terminology (CPT) reimbursement codes related to CGM services and how to utilize them in practice.
- Explain common barriers to continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) use.
- Apply the “identify, configure, collaborate” framework to address common barriers to CGM.

Each activity consists of audio, video, and/or PDFs and evaluations. Learners must review all content and complete the evaluations to receive continuing pharmacy education credit for each activity.
Follow the prompts to claim, view, or print the statement of credit within 60 days after completing the activity.
Important Note – ACPE 60 Day Deadline:
Per ACPE requirements, CPE credit must be claimed within 60 days of being earned. To verify that you have completed the required steps and to ensure your credits have been reported to CPE Monitor, check your NABP eProfile account to validate that your credits were transferred successfully before the ACPE 60-day deadline. After the 60-day deadline, ASHP will no longer be able to award credit for this activity.
